Pattaya is the easiest city in Thailand to find a guest-friendly hotel, and the easiest place to get burned by a 2014-era directory listing that nobody ever re-checked. We’ve reviewed 54 hotels and budget guesthouses across the city’s zones, and every one carries an honest label: verified (we confirmed it), reported (directories claim it, we haven’t confirmed yet), or confirm first (no reliable claim exists).
That last part matters more than any list. Joiner policies change with management, and most of what’s published about them online recycles the same decade-old source. Treat every list, including ours, as a starting point, and get the policy in writing before you book.

What does guest friendly mean here?
A guest-friendly hotel lets you bring an overnight visitor to your room without charging for it. Your guest registers an ID at reception (a duty every hotel carries under Section 35 of Thailand’s Hotel Act B.E. 2547) and that’s the whole process. Hotels that aren’t guest friendly charge a joiner fee of ฿300-1,500 per night, or refuse unregistered visitors entirely. How do we label these hotels?
Every Pattaya guest-friendly list online traces back to a handful of recycled sources, some with “verification” stamps from 2014. We do it differently: each review states where its policy claim comes from and when. Verified means we confirmed it with the hotel directly (so far: LK Metropole, May 2026, first guest free, ฿500 each additional). Reported means current directories agree but we haven’t confirmed, so treat as probably-right. Confirm first means nobody has a reliable claim, so ask before booking. Budget guesthouses: the cheapest guest-friendly beds
If the room is just somewhere to sleep and shower between nights out, you can spend a lot less. These are the budget guesthouses, plain and cheap, clustered where the nightlife is: the Soi Buakhao and LK Metro corridor, Walking Street, and Soi 6. The directories call them guest friendly, but places this small rarely put it in writing, so ask before you book.

Which one should you actually book?
It depends what your nights look like:
- Best all-rounder: Areca Lodge, 8.5/10 across 13,000+ Agoda reviews, renovated 2022, on Soi Diana between everything.
- Cheapest bed that’s still guest friendly: The Siam Guest House or Nemos, plain budget guesthouses in the Soi Buakhao corridor that people actually rate.
- Most modern: Hotel Amber Pattaya, opened 2019, 8.9/10, on the quieter side of the Buakhao corridor.
- The verified safe bet: LK Metropole, the one policy we’ve confirmed ourselves, walkable to LK Metro, Buakhao and Walking Street.
- Gogo-first trips: LK The Empress or LK Royal Suite, both steps from LK Metro.
- Tightest budget: Diamond City Place in South Pattaya: basic, cheap, reported free.
- Five-star comfort: Hotel Baraquda Heeton, the former Dusit D2, reported guest friendly.
How do you confirm before booking?
Two minutes of effort beats any list, ours included. Email the hotel, “What is your policy for additional guests joining during the stay?”, and keep the reply; written confirmation settles any front-desk dispute. The Booking.com Q&A tab is where hotels answer this question in public, since the listings themselves never mention fees. And whatever you hear, your guest will register an ID at reception.
